9:05am to 10:20am - Person-Centered Planning is the First Step in Self-Determination - Participants will learn about the origins of Person-Centered Planning in Michigan's system of CMH services and how it supports individuals receiving mental health services to organize their mental health services and supports. - Sally Burton Hoyle, Eastern Michigan University

10:30am to 10:40am - Break

10:40am to 12:00noon - History of Self-Determination. What can be learned from those who’ve gone before us?  Examine a bit of disability history and the Self-Determination movement for people with developmental disabilities.  This presentation will increase participants understanding and importance of the principles and basic tools of self-determination. - Patricia Carver, Community Drive, Inc.

12:50pm to 1:10pm - Personal Success Story

1:10pm to 2:00pm - How Arrangements That Support Self-Determination Work in Michigan. This presentation will provide an overview of the tools that are used to implement arrangements that support Self-Determination in Michigan including Self-Determination and employment agreements and fiscal intermediaries. - Ellen Sugrue Hyman, Self-Determination Development Coordinator, Consultant, MI Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Administration (BH&DDA)

2:00pm to 3:15pm - Developing the Individual Budget. This presentation will describe how the Person Centered Planning Process is connected to the development of the individual’s plan of service and an individual budget is created to reflect the plan of service.  The session will explain how a Fiscal Intermediary can assist an individual to manage the resources included in their plan of service and individual budget.  This session will be interactive so participants can learn and share how to address challenges, perceived or real, when supporting an individual’s authority over an individual budget. - Angela Martin, MI DDI-Wayne State University

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be received in writing at least 10 business days prior to the conference for a full refund less a $15 administrative fee.  If cancellation is received less than 10 business days prior to the training, no refund will be given and the full charge will be incurred. Substitutions are permitted at any time.
