Training Description: This seminar will focus on the various types of dementia including Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular, Lewy Body Dementia and Frontotemporal Dementia.  You will develop new skills related to approach, cueing, and ability to connect with people affected by dementia. Learn fundamental skills which will enable to shift from simply “dealing with the behaviors” to creating a calm, solution-oriented environment.

Who Should Attend: This training in intended for individuals working with persons with dementia, individuals supporting care partners of persons living with dementia, and anyone providing supports or services for persons living with dementia

Social Work: The Community Mental Health Association of Michigan (formerly MACMHB), provider #1140, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.  CMHAM maintains responsibility for the program.  ASWB Approval Period: 11/10/16-11/10/19. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval.  Social Workers participating in training may receive a maximum of 6.0 Clinical Continuing Education Clock Hours.  Course Delivery Method: Face-to-Face seminar

Nursing Contact Hours: This continuing nursing education activity was awarded a maximum of 6.00 nursing contact hours. Michigan Public Health Institute - Continuing Education Solutions is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Evaluation

There will be an opportunity for each participant to complete an evaluation of the conference and the instructor.  If you have any issues with the way in which this conference was conducted or other problems, you may note that on your evaluation of the conference or you may contact CMHAM at 517-374-6848 or through our website at www.CMHAM.org for resolution.

*National Accreditation rules indicate that if you are over 5-minutes late or depart early, you forfeit your CE for the entire training.  Please note that this is a National rule that CMHAM must enforce or we could lose our provider status to provide CE in the future.  This rule will be strictly followed.

Registration Fee is $35/person and includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and materials

Policies: 

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, through the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan, has provided funding for this initiative through Federal Community Mental Health Block Grant.

Special Needs:

*Arrangements for special needs will be honored for those written requests received 10 business days prior to the conference.  Clearly state your specific needs for mobility assistance, interpreters, etc. Attempts for on-site requests will be made.

Cancellations must be received in writing at least 10 business days prior to the conference for a full refund less a $10 administrative fee.  If cancellation is received less than 10 business days prior to the training, no refund will be given and the full charge will be incurred. Substitutions are permitted at any time.
