Training Description: The Physician and Nurse Practitioner’s Approach to ACT’ meets the Medicaid requirements for ‘MDHHS approved ACT specific training’ and is specifically for Physicians and Nurse Practitioners involved with ACT teams. This training is led by ACT Psychiatrist, Dr. Abdul Hafeez, whose practice includes Lincoln Behavioral Health ACT teams. Dr. Hafeez has worked with Assertive Community Treatment teams and consumers since the 1990s.

(Physicians and Nurse Practitioners may alternately attend ‘ACT 101’ intended for all ACT Staff)

Training Purpose: This statewide offering, ‘The Physician and Nurse Practitioner’s Approach to ACT’, provides information, invites discussion and offers opportunities for psychiatrists and nurse practitioners to enhance understanding and implementation of the Assertive Community Treatment model as practiced in Michigan.  

Who Should Attend: Intended for Physicians & Nurse Practitioners involved with ACT

Seminar Includes: 

  1. ACT Overview

  2. Physician/Nurse Practitioner roles and relationship to the ACT team

  3. ACT in Medicaid, the Field Guide and fidelity standards

  4. Discussion

Presented by: Abdul Hafeez, MD, Lincoln Behavioral Services

*No continuing education credits are available for this training which will be offered live and face-to-face only.

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, through the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan, has provided funding for this initiative through Federal Community Mental Health Block Grant.

Registration is $35/person and includes breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack and materials

*Arrangements for special needs will be honored for those written requests received 10 business days prior to the conference.  Clearly state your specific needs for mobility assistance, interpreters, etc. Attempts for on-site requests will be made.

Cancellations must be received in writing at least 10 business days prior to the conference for a full refund less a $10 administrative fee.  If cancellation is received less than 10 business days prior to the training, no refund will be given and the full charge will be incurred. Substitutions are permitted at any time.
