On Wednesday, February 3, Governor Rick Snyder unveiled his Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 budget proposal.  The total Executive Budget Recommendation for FY17, including all state and federal revenue sources, is $54.9 billion, an increase of 0.8 percent or $438 million over last year, and includes $10.2 billion in general fund dollars. The general fund is up 1.5 percent from last year which translates to $145 million.

MACMHB and our membership have several items of concerns with the Governor’s FY17 budget recommendations – 1. Section 298 boilerplate, which would  shift all of the Medicaid behavioral health funding from PIHPs to Medicaid HMOs, 2. Significant drop in Healthy Michigan funding, and 3. Significant drop in Medicaid behavioral health funding.
